Ben's 2nd Birthday

How did this happen? How did my little man get so big....2! I can't believe it...everyone says it goes so fast but you don't quite grasp how fast until you go through it. I can remember so vividly the day he was born...but not quite so clearly the 2-3 months after....little bit of a fog. and I guess the 2-3 months after Heidi was born were much the same....especially as he was really just a baby himself.

I remember looking at him and couldn't believe he was mine. And then he opened an eye and it was so black....in my excitement and haziness I asked Pat "oh...where are his eyes? Is he ok?" Seems so ridiculous now. But they just looked so endlessly deep!

One of the happiest moments of my life introducing my shiny brand new son to my parents..just an hour old.

Ben had an immediate connection with his father..it was quite amazing. He turned his head towards Patrick voice when he was only a few hours old.

One of my favourite photos.

Blissfully happy

Ben smothers Heidi with love when we come to kinder to join in singing happy birthday to Ben. It's a bit much for Heidi and she often looks up at me like this in a silent bid for help. Its just the most gorgeous thing the natural love he has for her...

Ben's kinder is wonderful...very homely. It so cute seeing 2 and 3 year olds all sitting at a table having there milk and cake. If it was at home, Ben would be wandering around everywhere but the kids all just seem to do what everyone else does.

I had to be careful not to set the cotton wool steam alight!

yay! Ben was so appreciative of my cake making efforts...when he 1st saw it he said "oh WOW mum!" Very pleasing to hear and he kept saying it everytime he saw it over the next couple of days...worth the effort!

My gorgeous and very talented mum's card to Ben...illustrating all of his favourite things. He looked at it for ages.

Grandpa and Ben have a very special relationship...its so obvious to all. Quiet respect for each other. Ben listens to everything Grandpa says...they seem to have an understanding.

Definately understands the concept of presents now

Heidi dressed up for the occasion. Makes me laugh ...what a contrast of looks...she is just the sweetest little thing I have ever seen. I could look at her all day and its never without a smile on my face.

  1. Happy Birthday Ben! Two years has flown by, you were a teeny tacker when I last saw you. One day you will meet our little man Aidan and you can get up to mischief together, I am sure!
