Winter Country Visit

A couple of weeks ago the four of us jumped in the car and drove to Mt Gambier to stay at my cousin's farm for a few days. First road trip as a family and it was a slow one, when it was just the two of us, it would take us around 5 hours...this was a little longer. Left home around 10am and arrived at 6pm! Lots of stops to breastfeed little Heidi and let Ben run around and burn off some energy. Pat and I were chatting that kids really do make you slow down and enjoy the little things...nothing can be done in a hurry...between dressing, changing nappies, feeding etc even a quick trip down the road can take ages to get ready!

Winter has definately arrived...it rained most of the weekend but it was nice to stay cosy inside and Ben had so much fun running around and playing with his second cousins. Everything was exciting for him and it was so lovely to see him copying and following them around.

Heidi and Ben are really starting to play together now, even if its just with Ben's toes! Ben is very protective of her, especially when around other kids.

We ate VERY well. Pat made this lovely gooey centered chocolate puddings....we have made them twice already back home...they are too good!

Just before we hit the road to come home the rain stopped for us to say hello and goodbye to this beautiful calf. Ben was so taken with him and not scared at all. Cows really do have the most gorgeous, big kind eyes.

Birthdays

I just love birthdays...this is Pat's birthday last year. Heidi was just over 3 weeks old and Ben 14 months. Such a busy and happy time.

Last month was Dad and Katie's birthdays which called for a spectacular fireworks display on the cake! Both Ben and Heidi spellbound.

This photo reminds me of family birthdays as I child, candlelit with the wonderful smell of blown out candles. Ben's favourite word of the moment is mmmmoooorree? So there were a few relit candles and the room was filled with the delicious smell of candle smoke!
